Affirmations
Positive affirmations can help you develop a powerfully positive attitude to life. With a positive attitude you will find it so easy to be successful, healthy and happy. Every thought you think and every word you say is an affirmation, so you have a stream of affirmations constantly playing.
Affirmations sink down into the subconscious mind and lead you to positive action. The subconscious mind does not care about or know the difference between positive and negative thoughts – it just accepts what it is given. Ever since we were very young we have been building our belief system in our mind through the thoughts we have had. Some of these are very helpful but a substantial proportion of them are not particularly positive. But we can change this, by saying affirmations that will help create a more positive belief system.
Here are two types of affirmation:
1) Statement affirmations:
E.g. general affirmations
I am self-confident
I am self-assured
I am self-respecting
I am positive
I am happy
I am abundant
I am loved
I am at peace
I am talented
I am giving
I am trusting
I am sharing
Affirmations for self-esteem:
I am good enough
I love myself just as I am
I respect myself
I feel good about myself
I recognize my self-worth
I deserve the best in life
Affirmations for the perfect weight
My body is the perfect weight
My body is in perfect shape
I am slim
I love my body
Affirmations for perfect health:
I am fit and healthy
I always get enough exercise
I always eat healthily
I am energised
2) Image affirmations:
For example, a picture of your perfect house, perfect partner etc. This can either be imagined or a picture. These can include:
Perfect home
Perfect children
Perfect partner
Perfect friendships
Perfect health
Perfect happiness
Perfect job
How to use affirmations:
You can say your affirmations out loud or in your mind. (It would probably be best not to repeat them out loud while standing in line at the supermarket!) Try to say your affirmations with conviction and desire. If you ‘feel’ the affirmation, this will help move you towards your goal. E.g. saying ‘I am loved by many good people’ and feeling or imagining that love washing over you. You can also write your affirmations down. The process of writing them will help to let them sink in.
Your affirmations must be entirely positive, for example ‘I am happy with my life’ rather than ‘I am not sad’. They must be present tense, e.g. ‘I am successful’ rather than ‘I will be successful’ – if you say to yourself ‘I will be successful’ it will always be in the future and subconsciously you may never get there. If you imagine yourself
successful now, it will come to you more easily and quickly. After all, life is lived in the present moment so aim to be in a good feeling state as much as you can.
And,
what you focus on expands, so rather than letting random and uncontrolled thoughts and words steer your life like a boat being tossed about on the ocean, by saying affirmations you are controlling your destiny because you will be anchoring your thoughts and taking a positive direction. The more you say your affirmations the more it will
reinforce your positive attitude and you will create and attract to yourself the positive life you desire and deserve.
You can say your affirmations anywhere – standing in line, on your way to and from work. Why fume when stuck in traffic? Say some positive affirmations and not only will you avoid poisoning your body with negative thoughts but you will also be creating a better future for yourself with
positive thoughts! Remember that you must focus on positive thoughts when you have said your affirmations or you will undo the good you have done. A positive attitude is the fuel for success!
A good way of reinforcing your affirmations is to use a subliminal messaging program. This is a progam which flashes messages on your computer screen so quickly that only the subconscious mind can read them. I use a free one on my computer called ‘

Using such a program is your own project and you can create the perfect set of affirmations for yourself depending on which areas of your life you would like to improve.
